Egalitarian = What Most “Feminists” Mean To Say
I like how this was tagged with “gay marriage”…what?? Anyhow… I’ve written about term preference before, but I dislike the prevalence of this “argument.” I reserve the right to determine which movement I belong in, and want to identify as a part of. I am not a child who has not been exposed to the term “egalitarian” before, and I have chosen to still identify as a feminist, not for reasons of “misandry.” You don’t get to decide what feminism means if you do not identify as a feminist.
If you’re saying the only difference in what I am and what you say I should call myself is not a mindset, but a re-arrangement of letters, then surely you already realize the feminist movement isn’t full of “misandry,” otherwise why would you suggest we really “mean” to call ourselves egalitarian?? You’re saying it’s the same thing, so somehow feminism, simply by having “fem” in the title, “equals misandry”? So basically your entire bit here is that you don’t like the title of the movement, yet I’m sure if you encountered anyone desiring to change the name of “his”story to something more “gender neutral” you would see it as pointless/waste of time/ridiculous. (personally, I don’t care about it either way) Because you would probably say name changes that don’t change the content of the thing they define are silly… unless we’re talking about feminism, because obviously, the name, regardless of everything the entire movement stands for that you have chosen to ignore, implies they want to be “better than man!” We better tell those feminists what they really meant!
Oh logic…
